Polymer Modified + RAP + Evotherm = No Problem!

HMA Contractors in Tennessee saw a nice success with Evotherm in a polymer modified PG76-22 mix containing 15% RAP. In all 7,000 tons of mix were placed on State Route 258.The counter flow drum plant typically produces this mix at 330 F. Using Evotherm, they lowered the temperature by 40 degrees to 290 F while maintaining workability of the mix. All of the trucks showed excellent coating of the aggregate at the lower temperatures. The mix lost minimal heat during the 45-60 minute haul and arrived on site at a temperature of about 280 F. The crew used three rollers to compact the mix and achieve density.

Another win / win for the industry, consumer and the environment through warm mix and recycled materials. Well done!
